Freight & Billing
Q1 How is Volumetric Weight calculated?
Space on cargo aircraft is limited. To balance the costs between heavy, compact items and light, bulky items, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) uses a Volumetric Weight calculation.
Standard Formula: (Length x Width x Height)/ 5000
AuAsia Special Offer: We offer a 30% discount on volumetric weight. Your billable volumetric weight is calculated as: Volumetric Weight x 0.7
Q2 How is my final Shipping Cost determined?
Upon arrival at our facility, we weigh and measure your package. Your final Billable Weight will be whichever is higher: the Actual Weight or the Discounted Volumetric Weight.
Note: Billing accuracy is 0.01kg. Any order under 1kg will be rounded up to a 1kg minimum charge.
Packaging Guidelines
Q1 How should I pack my items?
We recommend using heavy-duty cardboard boxes or shipping-grade luggage. Please follow these tips:
Use sturdy, double-walled boxes in good condition. Avoid thin, worn, or unsealed packaging.
Avoid boxes with sensitive labels like "Chemicals," "Drugs," or "Perishable Food."
Secure both the top and bottom seams with heavy-duty packing tape. For fragile items, use multiple layers of bubble wrap and enough filler to prevent movement.
Important: If using luggage as a shipping container, please note that we cannot compensate for damage to the outer suitcase itself.
Q2 Can I pack my items at the drop off point?
Our Melbourne warehouse provides packing materials for purchase, including various box sizes, bubble wrap, and tape. Some drop-off points may offer basic materials for free; For other drop off point , please contact your local point in advance to confirm availability.
Q3 Can I ship irregularly shaped items?
We recommend avoiding irregular packaging as it is more prone to damage. If your item cannot fit in a standard box, ensure it is heavily padded with cardboard and buffers, then fully wrapped in industrial stretch film and tape.
Disclaimer: Parcels not packed in a standard cardboard box are ineligible for insurance claims or compensation for any damage incurred during transit.
